Bulgarian Military: Trophy Swedish CV9040C IFV to Help Improve Russian 2S38 Derivation-PVO SPAAG

The 2S38 Derivation-PVO SPAAG will replace the Shilka SPAAG and Tunguska SAM/SPAAG systems in the troops

The Swedish CV9040C IFV, which became a trophy of the Russian Armed Forces, may help improve the 2S38 Derivation-PVO anti-aircraft artillery complex (SPAAG). This is according to Bulgarian Military.

CV9040C is a highly mobile IFV from the CV90 family. The combat vehicle was developed by BAE Systems for the transportation and fire support of infantry.

The Swedish IFV is equipped with a 40 mm rifled automatic cannon. The gun provides significant firepower.

About the 2S38 Derivation-PVO

The 2S38 Derivation-PVO SPAAG will replace outdated Soviet systems in the troops, including the Shilka SPAAG and Tunguska SAM/SPAAG systems.

But there is one catch — unlike other air defense systems, the 2S38 Derivation-PVO is not equipped with surface-to-air missiles.

  • Speed — up to 70 km/h
  • Range of engagement of aerial targets — 6000 m
  • Range of engagement of ground targets — 3000 m

  • Maximum speed of engaged targets — 500 m/s
