The localization level of electric vehicle production developed at the BelGee plant has already reached 70%. This refers to the Belgee EX50, built on the basis of the Geely Coolray car. However, the released batch of electric vehicles still uses Chinese gearboxes, according to one of the developers, Alexander Belevich, Deputy General Director of the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
According to him, various industrial sector enterprises of the republic participated in the creation of the prototype.
This is Mogilevliftmash, which produces electric motors, this is the Novopolotsk Izmeritel plant, which makes power electronics, the First Battery Company, which produces batteries using Chinese cells for now. In the future, we are considering a partnership with a Russian component manufacturer.
Belevich emphasized that the Minsk Gear Plant is actively involved in the work. According to the developer, "the car is actually already Belarusian." He also said that electric vehicle owners in the republic will be able to count on maintenance for at least 10 years.
TheBelgee EX50 electric vehicle is capable of traveling up to 400 kilometers without recharging. The maximum speed is 135 km/h. The battery charging time from 20% to 80% is 48 minutes.
Battery cells for the electric vehicle were produced in China, and inverters and software were produced in Russia. Currently, the Belarusian plant has produced five electric vehicles. Mass production is scheduled to begin in the near future.
Most Geely and BelGee cars produced in Belarus areimmediately sent to the Russian market. In 2024, out of 90 thousand assembled cars, only 25 thousand were sold on the domestic market of the republic.
Earlier, BelGee presented anupdated Geely Coolray model, available exclusively in one Flagship Plus configuration.
