Elevator plant to appear in the Vologda region

The production site will produce about 5,000 elevators per year

Elevator production is planned to be established in the Vologda region with the participation of Chinese companies. Businessmen from China visited the site in the special economic zone (SEZ) near the village of Leskovo. This was announced by the governor of the region, Georgy Filimonov.

The plan is to produce about 5,000 elevator cars per year. The total investment will amount to $10 million, and the project will also create 120 new jobs.

Amson Elevator representative Zhou Zheng said that Chinese businessmen inspected elevators in Vologda and Cherepovets. He stressed that the equipment is old and needs to be replaced.

It should be reminded that the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (the permanent supranational regulatory body of the EAEU) extended until 2030 the service life of Russian elevators, which were to be replaced by February 15, 2025. According to the technical regulations, elevators that have served for 25 years must be repaired or decommissioned. The Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation has estimated that 64,000 elevators need to be replaced in the next 5 years.
