Власти Петербурга предложили строить торговые суда на верфях ОСК

The modernization of enterprises will require more than 200 billion rubles

The administration of St. Petersburg proposed that USC modernize 5 of its shipyards in the city to produce merchant ships using modern technologies. Experts believe that the creation of a unified shipbuilding cluster will require large investments.

A new production line may appear at:

  • «Severnaya Verf»
  • «Baltic Shipyard»
  •  «Admiralty Shipyards»
  • Kronshtadt Marine Plant
  • Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard

The city authorities propose to organize work according to the principle of a distributed shipyard (large blocks of the vessel will be manufactured at several plants simultaneously, and then transferred to another enterprise for assembly).

More than 200 billion rubles will be required to modernize the shipyards, experts believe. Currently, St. Petersburg shipbuilders fulfill full-cycle civilian orders, turning to equipment suppliers on the external market. It is expected that a unified cluster will allow ships to be built faster.
