"RESHETNEV" shared details on the creation of the ground communication complex for the new generation "Gonets" personal satellite communication and data transmission system. Work began in 2024, and the design documentation for the stations that will service "Gonets-M1" is almost ready.
The ground communication complex will include regional stations located in different territories of Russia. They will ensure the reception and transmission of information from spacecraft. Currently, the design documentation for the ground communication complex is being produced. Completion of this work will allow us to start manufacturing the stations.
By 2029, the new generation "Gonets-M1" satellite system will include 28 spacecraft. Like the old first "Gontsy" before it, it will be located in a low Earth orbit at 1,500 km. The "Gonets-M1" satellites will be multifunctional: they will provide voice satellite communications, internet access, satellite monitoring, and the development of the Internet of Things.
One of the key goals of this satellite constellation is Russia's independence from foreign satellite operators in terms of shipping. It is assumed that "Gonets-M1" will provide services related to shipping to countries friendly to Russia as well.
