Former Bridgestone plant in Ulyanovsk faces crisis: tooling problems slow down tire production

Production volumes at the Gislaved plant have decreased

The Ulyanovsk tire plant Gislaved, formerly known as the Bridgestone plant, is facing problems related to tooling for tire production.

Sergey Vasin, Minister of Industry, Investment and Science of the Ulyanovsk Region, reported that production volumes at the enterprise have significantly decreased. The reasons for this are related to the fact that the plant started operating only at the end of 2024 after a break. It is expected that production will recover in 2025, but not in full.

Currently, the Arbitration Court is considering a case on the sale of tooling by the previous owner to another legal entity, which also affects the operation of the plant. As a result, the plant was forced to order new tooling, which makes it difficult to fully restore production.
