В Москве создали инновационный композит с ускоренной биодеградацией

The development is planned to be used in the food and agricultural industries

A new composite material with accelerated biodegradation based on polypropylene and polyamide has been developed at the N.M. Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBCP RAS). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

Our polymer materials with the addition of partially biodegradable polyamide can be used as materials in the light, food and agricultural industries. In addition, polymer waste can serve as raw materials for the production of these mixtures, which is a clear advantage for the economy and the environment.

Mixing non-polar polypropylene with polar polyamide leads to the production of polymers with a high ability to be colored and electroconductive analogues. These new materials have high impact strength and biodegradability.

Studies have shown that some polyamide fibers (for example, PA6/66) are biodegradable. Composite materials based on polypropylene and polyamide grade PA6/66-4 demonstrated high heat resistance and oxidize at temperatures 60 °C higher than polypropylene.

At the moment, scientists have already obtained prototypes of the new composite. However, additional research is required for its implementation.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a new polymer will be created in St. Petersburg for the production of prostheses with maximum biocompatibility.
