The Russian missile forces are armed with the strategic RS-28 Sarmat complex with Avangard hypersonic glide vehicles, which have a flight speed on the cruise section of a quasi-ballistic trajectory in the range from 15 to 25M in the altitude range from 70 to 100 km. Analyst Yevgeny Damantsev explained the impossibility of intercepting this weapon.
The flight of each of the 10 Avangard combat units placed in the multiple independently targetable vehicle along the above trajectory is unique in that the exo-atmospheric kinetic combat interceptor stages of the American RIM-161B/С/В anti-missiles and the EKV interceptors of the THAAD anti-missiles are not capable of functioning due to strong aerodynamic heating of the optical-transparent fairing at altitudes of less than 100 km, where the density of the atmosphere is still high.
At the same time, the endo-atmospheric MIM-104F PAC-3MSE anti-missiles of the Patriot PAC-3MSE complexes, as well as the RIM-174ERAM (SM-6), are not capable of intercepting Avangards at altitudes of more than 35 km due to insufficient energy parameters.
Each 15A28 Sarmat ICBM, in addition to 10 Avangard warheads with conventional and/or nuclear warheads with a capacity of up to 80 kt, is capable of carrying an additional complex of missile defense penetration aids in the form of mock-ups, dipole reflectors and IR traps, infrared aerosols and autonomous electronic warfare systems. This makes this strike tandem practically inviolable for all existing American missile defense systems.
Earlier www1.ru reported that "High-Precision" sent a batch of missiles to the troops for the Pantsir and Kornet SAM systems.
