Генпрокуратура России ограничила продажу несовершеннолетним пневматики и страйкбольных приводов

Products with a muzzle energy of 0.5 to 3 J, regardless of caliber, have become "18+" items on marketplaces

Russian children and teenagers will no longer be able to purchase toy weapons structurally similar to pneumatic ones, airsoft guns, as well as real pneumatic rifles and pistols with a muzzle energy of up to 3 J on marketplaces. The corresponding restrictions were introduced at the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office: previously, such goods did not have them and did not require a license. As the press service of the department explains, the measures were taken "in order to strengthen public safety and prevent child injuries".

The results of supervisory activities show an exacerbation of problems associated with the indiscriminate use of unlicensed pneumatics, most often by adolescents. In a number of regions of the country, tragic consequences of the irresponsible use of products structurally similar to pneumatic weapons have been recorded. They are available for sale, including through online stores, purchased without licenses and are not registered. At the suggestion of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation organized work to further regulate the rules for the sale of pneumatic weapons, as well as products with a muzzle energy of 0.5 to 3 J, regardless of caliber.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade supported the idea. Now, the product card of such products on Russian online showcases must have an age marking, and it can only be viewed after the buyer confirms their age. Marketplaces have the right to block the cards of sellers who violate this regulation. In addition, sellers and employees of order pick-up points can now hand over such goods to the buyer only after he documents his identity and age.

There is no information yet on changes to the rules for using pneumatic weapons for those minors who already have them. That is, it still does not require a storage permit. However, its owner is obliged to use such weapons only at training grounds and other areas intended for sports shooting. The transportation and carrying of pneumatics in a loaded or charged state in populated areas, and its use in places not adapted for shooting within the boundaries of populated areas in Russia are prohibited.

Previously, pyrotechnics on Wildberries also became an "18+" item—it is now both shown and sold only to adults.
