This was announced by the Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation, Yuri Borisov, in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel. According to him, not counting the launch of the remote sensing satellite "Resource-P" No. 5, scheduled for December 25th, Roscosmos launched 99 satellites in 2024.
Currently, the Russian satellite constellation consists of approximately 288 devices.
It is constantly changing because a number of satellites fail and are replenished. This is a significant increase; we are in third place in the world in terms of the dynamics of creating a national space constellation.
Earlier it became known that Russia may spend up to 750 billion rubles on the development of multi-satellite constellations. Part of the expenses of the "Cosmos" national project may be covered by private investors. At the same time, the Russian satellite communication system (similar to the American Starlink) will be operational in the country by 2030.
