In November 2024, sales of used passenger cars decreased by 13.4% to 524.5 thousand units compared to the previous month. This is the worst dynamic of the year.
Sergey Udalov, Executive Director of "Autostat", believes that the drop in sales, as in the new car market, is caused by two main factors: a decrease in demand and an increase in the key rate.
In October, there was an increase in sales, which was caused by the desire of buyers to purchase a car at a lower price. This was due to the expectation of rising prices for new and used cars due to the indexation of the recycling fee.
According to the expert, by November, the share of used cars purchased on credit decreased to 6% compared to 12% in the middle of the year. This is due to the fact that loans have become less accessible due to the increase in the key rate.
The largest decrease in sales was observed for Kia (18.2%). The smallest was for Lada (9.2%).
Lada remains the leader in the segment, selling 135,860 cars in November. In second place is the Japanese Toyota, whose sales decreased by 14.3% to 52,260 cars. Kia closes the top three with 29 thousand cars sold.
At the same time, according to experts, a significantincrease in sales of new cars is expected in Russia at the end of December 2024. The increase may be from 5 to 20% compared to November.
Earlier it became known that from the new year the cost of technical inspection for owners of passenger cars willincrease by 7.3-7.5% depending on the region. Regional authorities must approve tariffs for technical inspection by December 20, as follows from the FAS order.
