This year, December 18, is the anniversary of the first front-wheel drive model produced at the Volga Automobile Plant. This was reminded by the Avtograd public.
Today, the first front-wheel drive model of the Volga Automobile Plant celebrates its anniversary. Exactly 40 years ago, on December 18, 1984, the serial production of the VAZ-2108 car began.
A Soviet and Russian front-wheel drive car belonging to the second small size class and having a three-door hatchback body was developed and mass-produced at the Volga Automobile Plant from 1984 to 2003. The VAZ-2108 was the basic model in the Lada "Sputnik" family of cars.
In early 1985, cars went on sale at a price of 8345 rubles. A total of 884,657 copies of this model were produced. Since 2004, it has been replaced on the assembly line by an updated version - VAZ-2113.
Earlier in Togliatti, where Lada cars are produced, a VAZ-2106 from 1995 was put up for sale. The owner of the car hopes to get 10 million rubles for it. The age of this car is almost 30 years, but its real mileage is only 10 kilometers. The seller claims that this is a collector's item.
