Автомобили ЗИЛ-4102 и ЗИЛ-118 «Юность» стали памятниками науки и техники

Both cars became symbols of Soviet engineering thought

The expert council of the Polytechnic Museum officially recognized the ZIL-4102 and ZIL-118 "Yunost" cars, which were previously part of the ZIL plant's collection, as two monuments of science and technology in Russia. Both vehicles are iconic examples of Soviet automotive engineering.

The ZIL-118 "Yunost" minibus, created in the early 1960s, is another example of advanced developments of its time. This minibus was one of the first in the USSR, offering modern design and functional solutions. Both models are now exhibited in the collection of the St. Petersburg enterprise "Passazhiravtotrans" in bus depot No. 1.

The ZIL-4102, developed in the late 1980s, was conceived as a top-class representative sedan. Two prototypes were created as part of the project — a light one and a dark one. Unfortunately, mass production of the model never took place, and the dark-colored car was dismantled in 1996. This car represented the ambitious but unrealized potential of the Soviet automotive industry in the segment of representative cars, which after the collapse of the USSR until 2018 was filled exclusively with foreign cars, such as Mercedes. The return to the production of cars of this level occurred with the launch of the Aurus model.
