В Пущино создали противоожоговое средство на базе коллагена

The development will allow import substitution of biomedical drugs

The Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed unique membranes for healing burns. This was reported by the press service of the university.

The development includes collagen protein and substances from larch bark.

As part of the work, the properties of two materials based on natural components - collagen and modified derivatives of dihydroquercetin - were obtained and studied. Collagen, like dihydroquercetin, is produced in Russia on an industrial scale, which reduces the cost of the technology for producing materials based on them and contributes to import substitution of biomedical drugs.

The researchers prepared several variations of membranes and studied them using electron microscopes. It was found that the new membranes significantly accelerate cell growth and the process of skin regeneration.

Burns were completely healed in fifteen days in rats treated with the new remedies. At the same time, when using membranes made of pure collagen, only about 80% of the burn area healed during this time.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that an effective drug for fighting cancer has been developed in Nizhny Novgorod.
