The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) military-industrial holding has won a tender to supply work boats for the Project 22220 Yakutia and Chukotka universal nuclear icebreakers, which are being built at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, the company's press service reported.
These universal nuclear icebreakers are designed to perform various tasks in Arctic conditions, including independent piloting of ships, year-round leading of convoys in the Western Arctic region, as well as in the shallow waters of the Yenisei and Ob Bay.
The icebreakers will also be used for towing ships and floating structures, providing assistance, and performing search and rescue operations. This makes them an important element for ensuring navigation and safety in harsh Arctic conditions.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that KMZ started repairing engines for T-72, T-90 tanks and Msta-S self-propelled howitzers.
