Asteroid COWEPC5 flew over Yakutia and fell, which specialists from the European Space Agency had suddenly discovered on its approach to Earth just over seven hours before. According to the international classification, it belongs to meteoroids, that is, small asteroids with dimensions up to 10 meters.

A small asteroid has just been spotted that is about to collide with Earth. It is about 70 cm in diameter and the collision will be harmless. In about seven hours at 16:15 +/- 05 minutes Coordinated Universal Time (17:15 +/- 5 minutes Central European Time), a beautiful fireball will likely appear in the sky over Northern Siberia.

Later, the information was confirmed by the Roscosmos State Corporation, and noted that the asteroid may be "potentially dangerous". According to the state corporation, the threat is significantly greater than European astronomers estimated.

Regarding the approach of a potentially dangerous asteroid to Earth. According to ASPOS OKP, a potentially dangerous asteroid called COWEPC5 will enter the atmosphere of our planet today at 19:15 Moscow time over the Siberian region west of the city of Olekminsk. The size of the asteroid varies from 0.5 to 2 m.

Scientists from the Ural Federal University tracked the trajectory of the celestial body and calculated that the meteoroid would fall between the Yakut village of Olekminsk and the city of Lensk. It lived up to the expectations of specialists.

It is not yet known whether the celestial body brought any destruction to Earth, or whether it completely burned up in the atmosphere during the flash.
