Россия вывела на орбиту Земли второй спутник «Кондор-ФКА»

The second radar with a synthesized aperture installed on the satellite by Ruselectronics has already started operating

The Russian Kondor-FKA No. 2 satellite has been launched into Earth orbit. Roscosmos noted that its night launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome was successful.

Specialists from the Ruselectronics holding and NPO Mashinostroeniya have already begun operating the second radar with a synthesized aperture, Kondor-FKA. The radar, developed by the Vega concern, which is part of the holding, allows obtaining high and medium resolution radar images. The device is equipped with a lightweight umbrella-type mirror antenna and provides all-weather, round-the-clock observation in a strip of the Earth's surface parallel to the flight path of the spacecraft.

Kondor-FKA No. 2 is designed for remote sensing of the Earth's surface and the World Ocean. The first satellite of the group has been in orbit since 2023, and it completed its annual flight tests in July 2024.

Two Kondor-FKA satellites together with the all-weather vehicle Obzor-R, which should also be launched into Earth orbit by the end of the year, will create a new satellite mini-network. It will provide coverage of the Northern Sea Route in no more than 14 hours. Kondors-FKA also help agriculture and monitor the consequences of man-made and natural emergencies.
