The updated version of the legendary UAZ Patriot is expected to appear in 2025. Previously, there was a lot of information about this model online, but Quto learned the details from Alexey Spirin, General Director of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
The key innovation in the upcoming update will be the installation of a two-liter diesel engine on Sollers trucks. This engine is produced at a motor plant that previously belonged to Ford. The plant is located in the Alabuga special economic zone.
The new diesel engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, which is produced at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. It is also planned to be used with a ZMZ PRO gasoline naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower.
In the future, we may see cars with automatic transmissions again. Sollers, which owns UAZ, plans to start producing such cars at the ZMZ plant. However, you will have to wait until 2026 for the appearance of a two-pedal SUV, since changing the design of the body floor will be required to install the new transmission.
Previously, a new steering wheel was developed for the updated version of the UAZ Patriot SUV. The steering wheel has become more compact, and its lower part has decreased. There are thickenings in the places where the driver holds it, and an airbag has also been installed.
Also in Ulyanovsk, the UAZ plant plans to update the paintwork complex. This is necessary to prepare for the assembly of pickups under the Sollers brand.
