Kalashnikov Concern Implements MIM Technology in AK-12 Production

MIM technology allows obtaining a finished part without further processing

Russia's main arms concern, Kalashnikov, has implemented MIM technology (Metal Injection Molding) in the production of the AK-12 assault rifle. The innovative molding method is suitable for the manufacture of other combat small arms.

The concern's press service stated that MIM technology helps to quickly fulfill orders for combat weapons. In particular, it can be used to obtain a finished part without further processing. At the same time, the surface quality of MIM parts is much higher than that of parts obtained by investment casting.

We are actively introducing advanced competencies in the field of injection molding technologies, fully understanding that this is our future and the key to our sustainable development.
Alan Lushnikov, Head of Kalashnikov

The concern is also considering the possibility of introducing this technology into the production of high-precision missile and artillery weapons.
