Iskander Missile Reduces Circular Deviation: Russian High-Precision Weapons Become Even More Deadly

Expert Damantsev: CEP of 9M723-1 Missiles Reduced to 7-15 m

An episode of the destruction of a multi-purpose MiG-29A fighter at one of the alternate airfields has become widespread on the Web. The Russian military used an Iskander-M operational-tactical missile 9M723-1 with an air initiation programmed at an altitude of about 35 m by a Zont series fuse.

Military expert Evgeny Damantsev drew attention to the fact that the circular probable deviation of missiles of this type has decreased to 7-15 m.

This indicates high noise immunity and accuracy of the Kometa-R8 GLONASS/GPS correction radio navigation modules.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

Iskander-M is a Russian OTRK designed to destroy enemy missile defense and air defense systems, as well as critical military facilities at a maximum range of up to 500 km.

The complex is equipped with two main types of missiles: the R-500 cruise missile, capable of automatically bypassing terrain, and the 9M723 quasi-ballistic missile with the ability to control the entire flight path and electronic warfare modules for jamming.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the main vulnerability of American ATACMS missiles to Russian air defense systems has been revealed.
