Bright bolide flew over Blagoveshchensk: a rare astronomical phenomenon

A bolide, a bright meteoroid, was recorded in the sky over Blagoveshchensk. This event caused active discussion on social networks, where eyewitnesses shared videos and their hypotheses about the nature of the celestial phenomenon.

Residents of Blagoveshchensk, who witnessed this rare phenomenon, observed the object in the area of the intersection of Zagorodnaya and Severnaya streets. The glowing bolide continued to move towards Lenin Street.

According to the director of the Primorsky Astronomical Observatory, Alexey Matkin, a bolide is an object of natural origin that enters the dense layers of the Earth's atmosphere, sometimes burning up in it, and in some cases continuing its movement into space or even reaching the Earth's surface in the form of meteorites. This kind of phenomenon can be accompanied by bright light, loud sounds or claps.

A video from the scene was published in local public pages. The amateur Telegram channel "Sky Above Us", specializing in the study of astronomical phenomena, confirmed that the recording captured a bolide. According to amateur astronomer Irina Parkhomova, bolides differ from other space objects in their brightness and ability to be visible even during the day. She also clarified that stars and comets cannot fly through the Earth's atmosphere like a bolide does.
