The M.Video-Eldorado Group offers a new way to make purchases — using biometric data, without the need for a physical bank card or smartphone. The service is available to Sberbank clients.
In the retail outlets of the network, located in 370 cities in Russia, it is now possible to make a purchase using biometric data. For this purpose, 3,380 new terminals have been installed, allowing customers to choose one of five payment methods: card, via QR code, using NFC, using a payment sticker, or with a smile.
A smile is not just a payment method, it is also an effective tool for protection against fraud, Sberbank assures. The system recognizes your identity, which guarantees the reliability of the transaction.
For additional protection, Sberbank recommends that users set up a security code. This code will be requested for purchases above a certain threshold.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russia intends to launch a full-fledged analogue of Apple Pay in 2025. The new method will allow customers to make purchases without cash or cards, using only their smartphone. It will work with both iOS and Android devices. The technology may be implemented in Sberbank's operations.
