Records broken: Russians spent 542 billion rubles on new cars in October

Chinese brands accounted for 334.8 billion

Russians' expenses on purchasing new cars in October this year amounted to a record 542 billion rubles. This is 60% more than in the same period last year. The data was collected by Gazprombank Autoleasing and Avtostat agency.

Most purchases were of Chinese brands - 334.8 billion rubles (7.7% more than in September). 18.2 billion rubles were spent on cars of Korean brands - 1.7% more.

Expenses on cars from other manufacturers also increased compared to the previous month of this year. The purchase of Russian cars cost up to 78.4 billion rubles (+ 24.3%), Japanese - up to 34.2 billion rubles (+32%), European - up to 59.1 billion rubles (+ 36.8%), American - up to 6.4 billion rubles (+44.1%).

According to Alexander Kornev, Head of Importer Relations at Gazprombank Autoleasing, the record amount of spending on cars is due not only to the increased number of purchases, but also to the increase in car prices.

Let us remind you that the previous maximum financial capacity was recorded in March of this year - 496.2 billion rubles. But if at that time only a few billion were not enough to reach the psychological mark of half a trillion, now this mark has been overcome with a solid margin.
