In Russian cars, route projection onto the windshield (Head-Up Display, HUD) and onto the digital dashboard (Cluster Display) has become available using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies. 2GIS service was the first in Russia to master the technology.
As the press service of the company told Gazeta.Ru, the new function is supported on cars with HUD or Cluster Display, which are integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These are mainly European cars, such as BMW from 2022 onwards, as well as some Chinese cars, for example, Haval.
For the new function to work, a phone application connected to CarPlay or Android Auto via Bluetooth or USB cable is sufficient. When 2GIS is launched via CarPlay on a supported car, the map will appear on the dashboard. Android Auto does not yet have map integration on Cluster Display, but 2GIS developers are following the development of the SDK in order to add this function to this platform later.
In the case of using Head-Up Display, data is transmitted to the windshield of the car or to a special transparent screen directly in front of the driver. Navigation prompts are also displayed on the HUD, which allows the driver not to be distracted from the road.
