The Russian state information system "ERA-GLONASS" now also tracks forestry equipment. The first 600 vehicles under observation have already completed a test period for data transmission to the Federal State Information System of the Forest Complex in three regions.
RIA «Novosti», citing Alexey Raikevich, General Director of «GLONASS», notes that the project «confirmed the efficiency and ease of use», and now the forest fire system will also be connected to the state information system for monitoring and timber turnover.
The experiment covered three regions – Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk, and Kostroma regions. I am confident that the successful experience will be quickly scaled up to the entire country.
Currently, more than 300,000 vehicles are already connected to the transport monitoring platform based on the "ERA-GLONASS" state information system in all regions of Russia. Also, Russian garbage trucks may soon be added to the system to monitor where and how they dispose of solid waste.
