Sollers has presented the new Sollers SB school bus, which is scheduled to go into mass production in Russia in 2025. At an event held on Friday, journalists were able to examine in detail both the exterior of the vehicle and its interior for the first time. This bonneted bus will be designed to carry 28 children and one accompanying adult.
The bus interior is organized with safety and comfort in mind: 14 rows of double seats are equipped with aviation-style seat belts. To maintain an optimal microclimate, each row has ventilation system deflectors, which include both heating and air conditioning. The driver's workplace is designed in a minimalist style, with a minimal set of necessary equipment. The installed gearbox, judging by the presented images, is mechanical.
The Sollers SB is built on a frame structure with a frame-panel body and is an adapted version of the Chinese Ankai 8M bus. The original model has a 3.66-liter Weichai diesel engine with 130 hp under the hood, which works in conjunction with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, information on which power units will be used in the Russian version has not yet been disclosed.
The new bus should be an important step in modernizing school transport in Russia, providing modern solutions to ensure the comfort and safety of students during trips.
