A tank battle took place on the front line between the Russian T-72B3M and the German Leopard-2A4/6. Such confrontations are very rare for the modern concept of fire contact.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that the German tank used a 120-mm DM12 HEAT projectile. It hit the "Relikt" dynamic protection element on the aft projection of the turret, which almost completely defocused and did not penetrate the aft armor plate of the turret.
Nevertheless, the vehicle's radiator was damaged, and the crew had to leave the fire contact zone and go to the repair base.
The Russian vehicle was also opposed by enemy FPV drones, but their control channels were suppressed by the "Perun" electronic warfare system.
Т-72Б3М is a modernized version of the Т-72Б3 tank, which received a new sighting system with a digital display, as well as a television rear-view camera. The armor of the combat vehicle is reinforced with side screens with "Relikt" dynamic protection modules.
In addition, the tank received a new Р-168-25У-2 "Акведук" VHF radio station, a new 125 mm caliber gun with increased barrel life, a Sosna-U multi-channel gunner's sight, and new fire-fighting equipment.
