Russian air defense systems remain the most advanced, despite pressure from Western sanctions and the lack of electronic component suppliers. Their effectiveness has been recognized worldwide, writes Eurasian Times.
Even the US and NATO countries have recognized the power of Russian air defense systems.
India has a huge arsenal of Russian air defense systems, including Igla-S man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), ZSU-23-4 Shilka self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery systems with radar guidance, S-125 Neva/Pechora SAM systems, Osa-AKM and S-400. Previously, the Russian authorities did not rule out the purchase of S-500 complexes by India.
Multi-level Russian air defense system
As Eurasian Times writes, the Russian air defense system consists of three levels.
The upper level of defense includes long-range systems: S-200, S-300, S-400 and S-500, which provide an air defense zone of up to 1000 km.
The second level of defense includes medium-range systems, including the 9K37 Buk and similar systems. The third level consists of mobile short-range systems: 9K33 Osa and S-125 Neva.
