According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, in an interview with the Moscow 24 TV channel, the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed railway project is actively moving forward. HSR-1 is the first such facility in Russia.
It is in the active launch phase. To date, contracts have been signed for the supply of 43 trains that will run at speeds of up to 400 km/h. They will be produced in Russia, and the entire component base will also be Russian. The requirements for the train are the most stringent; the Moscow government participated in the formation of the technical specifications for the future train.
According to him, industry will receive a huge boost with the advent of these most modern technologies in the field of high-speed rail transport. The official is confident that "the first HSR will be followed by the second, third, fourth, and fifth".
It is assumed that HSR-1, with a length of almost 680 km, will reduce travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg to 2 hours 15 minutes. After its launch, a reduction in passengers on flights in this direction by 2-2.5 million people is expected.
