Russian artillerymen, together with the crew of the artillery reconnaissance complex "Zoo-1M", are successfully destroying the enemy as part of counter-battery combat. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev spoke about the features of the system, without which it would be difficult at the front.
"Zoo-1M" is designed to reconnoiter the positions of enemy fire weapons, including MLRS, mortar and artillery positions, air defense systems and launchers of tactical missiles.
The complex is equipped with a three-coordinate monopulse radar with a phased antenna array. In the process of reconnaissance of the area, a discretely scanned radar beam probes the space, and also automatically detects flying mines, shells and missiles in the air and calculates their trajectory.
Support for the fire of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system is carried out at a range of up to 80 km, Smerch multiple launch rocket systems up to 70 km, Uragan up to 50 km, Grad up to 40 km, artillery systems of 152 mm caliber up to 27 km, and 203 mm caliber up to 32 km.
Zoo-1M conducts reconnaissance of firing targets at a range of up to 23-27 km. The complex detects multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of the MLRS type at 45 km, and ATACMS tactical missile launch positions at 65 km.
