Roskomnadzor has no relation to the failure in the operation of the Steam service, which is engaged in the digital distribution of computer games. Access problems arise due to the platform itself, said Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
According to my information, the problems with access to Steam are entirely within the responsibility of the digital platform, there is no interference from the Russian regulator.
He added that, according to users, the problem can be solved by changing the language settings in the application store.
The press service of Roskomnadzor also replied that the department does not restrict access to the Steam platform.
Russians complained about failures in the operation of Steam. The first reports of failures began to arrive on October 31. Russian players suggested that the problem may be related to blockages or slowdowns, since Valve had previously come to the attention of regulatory authorities. However, later they began to say that the problems with the service are of an "international nature", and are not related only to Russia.
Steam is an online platform for distributing computer games and programs, created and maintained by Valve.
As a reminder, Roskomnadzor previously included Steam in the list of prohibited sites. The regulator reported that if the platform does not comply with the requirements of the RKN, Russian users will lose access to their accounts and games. The Steam community deleted pages with prohibited information, after which the site was unblocked.
After Roskomnadzor stated that it does not plan to introduce restrictive measures against the Steam platform in Russia.
