The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed amending the current strategies for the development of the agro-industrial and fisheries complexes of Russia for the period up to 2030. According to the ministry, the industries in their current state need additional support.
In particular, according to the ministry, animal husbandry and poultry farming need frequent replacement of machinery and equipment: ammonia, carbon dioxide, constant humidity and other factors accelerate wear and tear.
The increase in the cost of metal and products made from it is a significant risk to production. In addition, a high proportion of the equipment used for keeping farm animals and poultry is imported. According to industry associations, the share of imports in air conditioning and ventilation equipment is about 50%, in software and management — about 50%, in machine tool equipment — about 25%, in equipment for feed mills — 30%.
It is noted that the localization of these industries in Russia will require «additional capital expenditures». It is also necessary to pay attention to the fact that animals and birds are often kept in unsuitable conditions.
Despite the high rates of construction and modernization of livestock facilities, about half of the milk is produced on dairy farms, the depreciation of which is more than 60%. According to regional agricultural authorities, 40% of eggs are produced on poultry farms with a depreciation rate of 40% to 60%, 30% on poultry farms with a depreciation rate of more than 60%
The Ministry of Agriculture also calculated that Russia is short of 65 thousand tractors and 34 thousand combines.
