Russian military personnel began using new rockets for the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A "Solntsepyok". Journalist Alexander Kots noted that the characteristics of advanced ammunition are not yet publicly available.
But this is, firstly, a significantly increased range. And this is very important in conditions when, in order to strike, you have to drive "Solntsepyok" 3-4 km to the line of combat contact. With new shells, the car and crew don't risk so much.
The journalist emphasized that they use a "slightly different principle" that allows you to cover a significantly larger area with one ammunition.
Main characteristics of the basic version of TOS-1 "Solntsepyok":
- Readiness time for opening fire — 90 sec
- Number of launch tubes — 24 pcs
- Caliber — 220 mm
- Firing range — from 600 m to 6000 m
- Duration of a full salvo — 6 sec
