The Russian high-precision MLRS 9K515 "Tornado-S" struck a western 122-mm RM-70 Vampire MLRS on the front. The circular deviation was about 35 m, but this was enough to cause serious shrapnel damage with the 9M544 guided missile.
The shrapnel dispersion sector covered the 122-mm RM-70 Vampire MLRS. The flight speed of the 9M544 missile on the terminal section of the trajectory was 570 - 650 m/s.
The main guidance elements of the 9M542 URS line from NPO "Splav" are 9B706.01 head units equipped with GLONASS-/GPS-correction radio navigation modules, as well as aerodynamic rudders with servo drives.
"Tornado-S" has 12 guides for 300-mm rockets. The system is capable of hitting targets at a significantly greater range — up to 120 km.
Each ammunition of this MLRS can receive an individual flight mission and use the capabilities of the GLONASS navigation system.
Earlier, Su-35S fighters were called effective against Western AASM-250 HAMMER and JDAM-ER air bombs. They will intercept R-77-1 missiles at a distance of up to 60-70 km.
