Joint patrols in the Arctic Ocean took place in early October

Chinese authorities are actively interested in the Arctic. In early October, Chinese Coast Guard ships, together with Russian Navy warships, conducted a joint patrol in the Arctic Ocean for the first time, according to Defensa.

As Defensa notes, the US Coast Guard leadership has expressed concern about the actions of Russian and Chinese ships. Washington believes that this could lead to the militarization of the Arctic.

During the patrol, the crews of Chinese and Russian ships inspected fishing vessels in the Arctic zone. Representatives of the Chinese Coast Guard stated that this complies with the provisions of UN General Assembly Resolution 46/215.Defensa
