JSC LOMO (part of the Kalashnikov concern) is preparing to launch thermal imaging monoculars into serial production. These are the "Kudesnik", "Pygmy", and "Mangust" products.
All three thermal imagers withstand a temperature range from -20 to +50 degrees Celsius, and the housing protects them from dust and moisture. They have the same protection for the operator's face from glare.
The concern does not disclose detailed characteristics of its new products, but a little is still known about them. For example, the devices have structural differences. For example, the manual "Kudesnik" is designed for 4 hours of autonomous operation. When surveying the area, it will detect or recognize a human figure at a distance of 1.7 km.
"Pygmy" is an enhanced and developed version of "Kudesnik". It has the ability to replace lenses to expand the field of view and the range of object search.
"Mangust", in this line, is the simplest, lightest, and most compact. It is mounted on a helmet or tripod, and, unlike the other two thermal imagers, has a remote power supply. "Mangust" will provide the owner with object recognition at a distance of up to 500 meters.
According to the press service of Kalashnikov, the designers of LOMO are now"focused on introducing additional functions and bringing thermal imaging monoculars to mass production".
