Over the nine years of operation of the ERA-GLONASS state information system, the number of cars connected to it has reached 11.6 million. Emergency notification in case of an accident saves thousands of lives every year.
532 thousand cars were connected to ERA-GLONASS in the third quarter of 2024. The figure is three times higher than the number of registered cars for the same period in 2023 and 2022.
In the third quarter of 2024, ERA-GLONASS transmitted more than 21.9 thousand emergency calls from motorists to emergency services. Moreover, 83% of them were made automatically. As noted in the press service, this indicates the seriousness of the accidents in which drivers were unable to report the incident on their own. In total, the system has transmitted 406 thousand emergency messages to rescuers in nine years.
Earlier, Alexey Raikevich, General Director of JSC "GLONASS", at the "Digital Transportation-2024" forum, said that the company is developing its areas and plans to create aaccident prevention system. He also noted that "ERA-GLONASS" will operatein places without communication.
