The Ministry of Industry and Trade has come up with an initiative to change the preferential car loan program for electric vehicles. The ministry wants it to include cars in which important components are made in Russia. We tell you what exactly the officials propose to change.
Currently, all electric vehicles with a Russian VIN number can participate in the preferential lending program. It doesn't matter how localized they actually are in Russia, and what the cost of the car is. For understanding, gasoline cars more expensive than 2 million rubles do not fall under preferential car loans.
For cars with internal combustion engines, the level of localization (in points) is calculated for admission to this program. Deputies propose to apply the same approach to electric vehicles, but the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that it should be done differently. To oblige that some components in electric vehicles be of Russian production. We are probably talking about inverters, electric motors and batteries.
So far, the list has not been worked out. It is approved jointly with NAMI. Auto journalist Maxim Kadakov called the proposed idea of the Ministry of Industry and Trade very ambiguous.
