The Ministry of Industry and Trade has come up with an initiative to change the preferential car loan program for electric vehicles. The ministry wants the program to include cars in which important components are manufactured in Russia. We tell you what exactly the officials propose to change.
Currently, all electric vehicles with a Russian VIN number can participate in the preferential lending program. It doesn't matter how localized they actually are in Russia, and what the cost of the car is. For understanding, gasoline cars more expensive than 2 million rubles do not fall under preferential car loans.
For cars with internal combustion engines, the level of localization (in points) is calculated for admission to this program. Deputies propose to apply the same approach to electric vehicles, but the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that it should be done differently. To oblige that some components in electric vehicles be of Russian production. We are probably talking about inverters, electric motors and batteries.
So far, the list has not been worked out. It is approved jointly with NAMI. Auto journalist Maxim Kadakov called the proposed idea of the Ministry of Industry and Trade very ambiguous.
Recall that the most popular new electric car in Russia became Zeekr 001. Last year, more than 3.5 thousand copies of the electric car from Geely were sold at a price of more than 7 million rubles. However, the car does not fall under the preferential lending program – it is supplied to Russia by gray imports.
