Anti-reflective coatings to increase the efficiency of solar panels have been created at Novosibirsk State University (NSU). This was reported in the press service of the university.
The new type of coating has the properties of metasurfaces (layers of material with special optical properties). Experts explained that germanium was used as a dielectric. It has a high refractive index.
Coatings made of germanium nanoparticles serve not only as anti-reflective, but, more importantly, change the direction of the passing light, directing a significant part of it along the surface and at small angles to it.
The new coatings will be more effective for thin-film photoelectronic converters compared to analogues.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Omsk a new technology was created to increase the efficiency of solar power plants.
