The Republic of the Congo and Rosatom State Corporation are finalizing previously signed agreements in the field of renewable energy and floating nuclear power plants. Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua told RIA Novosti that the negotiations are going successfully. The main areas of work include renewable energy based on floating systems and nuclear energy.
In July, Rosatom announced the signing of memorandums of cooperation between Russia and the Republic of the Congo in the field of peaceful atom and hydropower. These steps underscore Russia's intention to develop its position in the energy sector of the Congo and deepen cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
Russian Energy Week took place in Moscow from September 26 to 28.
On July 17-18, 2024, a working visit of the Deputy Director General - Director of the International Activities Block of Rosatom State Corporation, Nikolai Spassky, to the Republic of the Congo took place. During the visit, Nikolai Spassky held detailed negotiations with the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of the Congo, Emile Ouosso. As a result, memorandums of cooperation were signed in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes and in the field of hydropower.
A meeting was also held with the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso, at which the main attention was paid to the prospects for the consistent promotion of the Russian-Congolese partnership in the energy sector as a whole. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Congo, Ilyas Iskandarov, took part in the negotiations.
