The Algerian authorities plan to transfer their outdated MiG-29s to the Sudanese Air Force, purchasing Su-57s and Su-30s from Russia. This is reported by Defense Arabic.
The Algerian Air Force fleet will be modernized, and it will be replenished with fifth-generation Su-57 fighters at the end of this decade.
Algeria has been decommissioning MiG-29s since 2020. MiG-29Ms and Su-30MKAs have been purchased to replace them. In parallel, the authorities of the African country are negotiating with Russia for the purchase of new Su-57s.
If Algeria receives the Su-57, and Sudan acquires the MiG-29, the military and geopolitical situation in the region will drastically change. Such a gambit will lead to an increase in the military power of both countries.
