New Russian radar satellite "Condor-FKA" No. 2 Arrived at Vostochny

The launch of the second of the four satellites in the group has been delayed for several months

According to the state corporation, Roscosmos specialists received the container with the device in the thermal airlock of the block warehouse and unloaded it. After transportation to the MIK of spacecraft, it will begin to prepare for launch. The preliminary launch is scheduled for November 2024.

"Condor-FKA" No. 2 was supposed to leave Earth in the second quarter of 2024, but the launch was slightly delayed and postponed to the third quarter of 2024, and then to the fourth.

Earlier in July 2024, the first "Condor-FKA" successfully completed flight tests. The satellite works with solving agricultural problems, monitors the consequences of man-made and natural emergencies, conducts survey shooting to record the ice situation on the Northern Sea Route and provide highly detailed images of its sections.

Two satellites of the group plus an all-weather vehicle "Obzor-R", which should also be launched into Earth orbit by the end of the year, will create a kind of mini-network. It will provide coverage of the Northern Sea Route in no more than 14 hours.
