Russia spends fabulous amounts of money on strengthening its defense capabilities. In the first half of 2024, the authorities allocated 5.3 trillion rubles from the federal budget for defense and arms procurement, said Janis Kluge, a researcher at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. This is reported by Bulgarian Military.
Compared to the same period in 2023, Russia's military spending increased by 36% (1.4 trillion rubles). According to Kluge's calculations, the government spends an average of 203 billion rubles weekly, 29 billion rubles daily, or 1.2 billion rubles per hour to support the army and purchase weapons.
Kluge emphasized that Russia's spending on secret items has increased. This refers to funding that goes to secret arms purchases.
In addition, there is a noticeable increase in spending on international military-technical cooperation. Probably, the funds will go to the purchase of ammunition and missiles from Iran and North Korea.
