Roscosmos offered NASA assistance with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft situation

In December 2022, American colleagues also offered assistance in rescuing the crew of Soyuz MS-22

Roscosmos Director General Yuri Borisov announced that the Russian space corporation offered NASA assistance with the Starliner spacecraft situation, similar to how American colleagues provided assistance during the emergency situation with the Russian Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft in December 2022.

Back then, in the case of Soyuz MS-22, the American side promptly offered assistance in rescuing the crew after the depressurization of the thermal control system radiator, which was caused by a meteoroid strike. Now, in response to that, Roscosmos has offered support to NASA in resolving the problems with Starliner, despite confidence in the American side's ability to cope on its own.

Borisov emphasized the importance of close cooperation in space to ensure the reliability and stability of the ISS operation and expressed regret about the possible loss of such experience in the future.

The Starliner spacecraft, launched by Boeing, encountered problems during docking, which led to a significant delay in the crew's return to Earth. Ultimately, NASA decided to return the astronauts in February 2025, and Starliner was descended in unmanned mode on September 7, 2024.
