Мессенджер Telegram изменил политику модерации после задержания Дурова во Франции

The messenger has not officially announced changes to its moderation policy

Telegram has updated its private chat moderation policy, allowing users to report illegal content. This change is reflected in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on the messenger's website.

Previously, it was stated that all chats and group chats are private, and the messenger administration does not process requests regarding these chats.

There have been no official statements from the messenger regarding changes to the moderation policy. Now, private groups in Telegram are no longer completely private: they can be reported.

The updated guide states that all Telegram applications now have a "Report" button, allowing users to report illegal content to moderators. Also, the FAQ section now includes an email address where users can send requests to remove prohibited content, attaching links to it.

These changes followed the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov at Paris airport on August 24. He faces six charges related to the actions of malicious actors in Telegram and the messenger's refusal to cooperate with French authorities. On August 28, Pavel Durov was released under judicial supervision with a bail of 5 million euros and was prohibited from leaving France.

Telegram reported that it had not changed its moderation policy regarding private chats. The corresponding clarification appeared on its X page amid the situation surrounding Durov's detention.

You can always report messages from any group to moderators, it works like forwarding. Private chats also remain private, although you can always report a new "incoming" chat to moderators.
