Russian forces on the front lines have begun using the Grom-E1 air-launched guided missile. It provides high-precision engagement of a wide range of surface and ground targets with known coordinates.

The Grom family of ammunition was first presented at the MAKS forum in 2015, they were created on the basis of the Kh-38 multi-purpose guided missile. "Grom-1" is a missile, "Grom-2" is a gliding guided bomb, which has an additional high-explosive fragmentation warhead instead of a rocket engine.

The starting mass of both ammunition is 522 kilograms, the warhead of "Grom-1" weighs about 250 kilograms, and "Grom-2" weighs about 380 kilograms. The guidance system is inertial with satellite trajectory correction.

According to images presented on the Web, the missile has a cylindrical body with folding swept wings.

It is designed to equip combat carrier aircraft of all types, including the Su-34 fighter-bomber, MiG-35 and Su-57 fighters.

  • Missile weight - about 600 kilograms
  • Warhead weight - 315 kilograms
  • Maximum launch range - 120 kilometers
  • Service life - 12 years
