The Caspian Flotilla will soon be replenished with ships carrying high-precision weapons, according to Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. Currently, the fleet includes ships with high-precision weapons of the "Caliber" type — these are small missile ships (MRK) of Project 22800 "Karakurt" and Project 21631 "Buyan-M"

The coastal component of the flotilla will also be developed, both in terms of equipping with weapons and in terms of intensifying combat training and practical training of personnel.

The Caspian Flotilla is part of the Southern Military District. The ships are based in Astrakhan. The vessels ensure security in the Caspian Sea, and their crews, among other things, carry out anti-terrorist measures and protect oil field zones.
