The Russian advanced high-mobility anti-aircraft missile system S-350 «Vityaz» is capable of operating against aerodynamic and ballistic targets, moving along both complex ballistic and skimming trajectories.
One of the most important elements of the radar architecture of the S-350A SAM system is the multifunctional radar for surveillance and target designation of the centimeter band 96L6-TsP (central post), designed for detecting ballistic targets with an ultra-small effective reflecting surface and issuing target designation to the multifunctional radar 50N6A with 16 target channels in the mode of intercepting aerodynamic targets and 12 - in the mode of intercepting ballistic targets.
Employing highly maneuverable 9M96DM SAMs with active radar homing heads, one SAM battery effectively neutralizes massive missile and artillery strikes from HIMARS/MLRS MLRS, as well as ATACMS.
Earlier, the foreign publication The National Interest noted that in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia, the Tu-160 could become «Vladimir Putin's hammer». They can be used to launch missiles with nuclear warheads or to hit important targets.
