A software and hardware complex for testing digital twins of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been developed at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). This was reported by the press service of the university.
The development runs on the domestic Astra Linux operating system.
The complex is a supercomputer on which you can simulate any spaces, locations and objects in full compliance with the laws of physics. The developers have created a simulation of reality in order to test in the virtual world combat and non-combat situations in which drones may be involved.
It is expected that the use of computer simulation will speed up the production of UAVs.
At the same time, unlike full-scale tests, digital testing allows you to work out not only typical scenarios, but also possible options for controlling the aircraft in emergency situations.
Head of the direction Alexey Rudometkin stressed that foreign analogues of the virtual proving ground are less effective.
Their development takes into account the benefits of implementing a particular functionality. If some aspect, even a critical one, is difficult and expensive to implement, it may not appear in the finished solution, while the software and hardware complex for developing solutions and technologies for unmanned aircraft systems will benefit not from sales, but by giving a new impetus to the entire UAS industry.
