The National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI" (NRNU MEPhI) has developed the UFF-630/675-01-BIOSPEC device. It is designed for disinfecting wounds.
The device works by irradiating the wound with red light (in the range of 665 nm). The irradiation area can be 20 by 20 centimeters.
The irradiation process is accompanied by the use of a photosensitizer. It is pre-applied to the wound to increase the sensitivity of tissues to light exposure.
The interaction of light and the photosensitizer releases oxygen cells. They destroy pathogenic microflora and promote tissue regeneration.
The device is more effective than other analogues in terms of radiation power, which is 10 times higher. The device also includes a module for monitoring the content of the photoactive drug in tissues.
Clinical trials of the novelty have been conducted. It is planned to be used in surgical clinics, burn centers and hospitals.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia invented a gel for bone regeneration after gunshot wounds.
